This is my first AHL jersey as I had to make sure I represented my black sheep favorite Versteeg for becoming a captain! Minor league hockey is interesting though. The Rockford Icehogs were founded in 1995 in the AHL as the Baltimore Bandits, but were relocated in 1997 to be the Anaheim Mighty Ducks affiliate the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. The Ducks would claim a new affiliate and the franchise would be renamed the Cincinnati RailRaiders but were not allowed to re-enter the AHL as they couldn't meet the ticket requirement. The Blackhawks, cutting ties with their affiliate the Norfolk Admirals, would purchase them in 2007 and relocate them to Rockford thus becoming the Icehogs which is still their affiliate today. The main logo has been the same since the team was relocated to Rockford and the shoulder patches would be the Blackhawks main logo to show their affiliation. The jersey basically mirrors the Hawks jerseys and has been this style since 2007. Being a minor league team, the use of ads is allowed on jerseys with Pepsi being the main sponsor.
