Jersey History

Sometimes it's not what you know, but who you know and very excited to add this game worn jersey to my collection. The Ottawa Senators have actually been a team in Ottawa a couple times now. This current iteration was formed in 1990 and began their first season during 1992-93. Their jersey colors and logo have been pretty consistent throughout their history with the Roman general being the main logo. This general got a 3D rebrand starting in 1997 and became the primary logo from 2007-2020, but the Sens would return to the 2D model midway through the Adidas era of jerseys to match what the team originally wore during their inception. This jersey was game worn during the 2026 NHL playoffs.

Player History

Jake Sanderson: Jake the snake! I don't think that's his nickname but it rhymes. Born in Whitefish, MT, Sanderson would grow up playing through the US National Development Team and eventually the University of North Dakota before being drafted 5th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2020. He would eventually join the Sens during the 2022-23 season where he immediately cemented himself as being a top defenseman on the team. Since then, he's become a core member of the Sens and looks to help cement them as a perennial contender for the cup. He plays for the Sens today.

Still early in his career, Sanderson has only played 4 full seasons in the NHL and has only been getting better. Would hope to see him fight for a Norris Trophy at some point. Currently he has played 303 games while scoring 39 goals and 181 points, and collecting 55 PIMs. He's only seen the postseason twice, but has done well here playing 9 games while scoring 1 goal and 5 points, and collecting 2 PIMs. He would be selected to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2023 as well. 

Even though he's a dual citizen for Canada and the US, Sanderson has chosen to represent the US for international tournaments and has done very well in that regard. He's competed in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2018. He's won gold in the IIHF World Junior Championships in 2021. He's participated in the IIHF World Championships in 2024 and the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025. He's also participated in the Olympics in 2022 and helped the US win gold in 2026.
