Jersey History |
Norway has just kind of been hanging on in the top tier. They joined the IIHF on January 20, 1935 and currently rank #12 for men's in the world, #14 for women's in the world, and reside in the top division for men's IIHF tournaments. The 2022 IIHF World Championship would take place in Finland in the cities of Tampere and Helsinki. Norway would finish towards the bottom in this tournament coming in 13th with a record of 1-1-0-5 (W-OTW-OTL-L). Finland would end up winning the tournament with Canada taking silver and Czechia taking bronze.
This jersey was game worn during the 2022 IIHF World Championship. Being in the top division, the jersey would be made of Nike's Swift material which was very lightweight, form fitting, and included a tie down fight strap. The Nike swoosh logo would be sewn in the top right shoulder and the IIHF patch would be sewn on the back bottom hem. A change up with these style templates of jerseys as the tagging would not include the IIHF Authentic Collection, but still has a screen printed numbered size and "Made in Canada" on the inside neck. The inside bottom hem would not include the heat pressed Nike bar-code either.
The main crest would be "NORGE" which is sewn on and a sublimated outline of the polar bear from the Norges Ishockeyforbund's (Norwegian Ice Hockey Association) main logo. The shoulder patches would be the Norges Ishockeyforbund's main logo and are sewn on. The numbers are single twill heat pressed onto the jersey and the name is heat pressed onto the nameplate which is sewn to the jersey. This jersey was worn during the games against Austria losing 2-3 and Great Britain winning 4-3. This jersey style would be worn for IIHF tournaments from 2022-present and be sponsored by Skoda.

Kristian Jakobsson is actually half Swedish and half Norwegian. Born in Örnsköldsviks, Sweden, Jakobsson would make his way up the Swedish leagues with MODO Hockey until he cracked the SHL lineup in 2015-2016. He would not stay in the SHL long and would primarily play in Sweden's second tier league, Allsvenskan. Not having much success there either, he moved to Norway in 2019 to play in the top Norwegian league, EliteHockey Ligaen, for Sparta Sarpsborg. He would really find his stride here and score over a point per game while he's been with the club. Sparta Sarpsborg's head coach is the head coach for the Norwegian national team and helped Jakobsson to play for Norway internationally. The 2022 tournament was Jakobsson's first year playing in the World Championship for Norway. During the tournament, Jakobsson would play 7 games while scoring 0 goals, 2 assists, collecting 2 PIMs, and finishing 0 overall.
