Jersey History |
Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, it's ice hockey time! Well this one is an interesting jersey, who would've though Jamaica would have a hockey team. Jamaica joined the IIHF on May 18, 2012 and are currently not ranked as they are only an associate member at this point. They'll be able to get full membership once they build a functional ice rink and are able to participate in the World Championships. They've only recently been able to field a men's and junior team for friendly matches and even then, most players are only of Jamaican descent. This jersey would be worn in specifically for the TEP Showcase Tournament. The 2017 Tournament would take place in Toronto, ON. Being so new, Jamaica would not do very well this tournament coming in 3rd with a record of 1-3-0 (W-L-T).
This jersey was team issued during the 2017 TEP Showcase Tournament. I haven't been able to pinpoint this exactly to the 2017 tournament as it looks like some jerseys may have been recycled through various years. Being fairly new to the IIHF, the jersey would not be from Tackla or Nike but would be made of AthleticKnit's Airknit material which was also very soft.
The main crest would be a shielded Jamaican flag which is sublimated on and a Jamaican Olympic Ice Hockey Federation U20 Exhibition patch would be sewn to the front. The shoulders would have just the Jamaican flag sublimated on. The numbers are sublimated onto the jersey and "JAMAICA" replaces where the names would go which is also sublimated on. Again, not really sure if or when this jersey was worn but hoping to find out soon. This jersey style would be worn for tournaments from 2017-present and would be sponsored by Geneva Financial.

Well still not sure if he wore this actual jersey but Dylan Stroud did wear number 10 through the tournament so I'll focus on him. Born in Cayuga, Canada, Stroud grew up playing in Canada and is still today in the PJCHL with the Dunnville Mudcats. He's of Jamaican descent which is how Jamaica was able to form a team. The TEP Showcase Tournament was his first time represent any country. During the tournament, Stroud would play 4 games while scoring 1 goal, 0 assists, and collecting 2 PIMs.
