Jersey History |
France is not a team you think about having a decent hockey team, but they've been doing well to stay towards the top. They were one of the first countries to join the IIHF on October 20, 1908 and currently rank #14 for men's in the world, #13 for women's in the world, and reside in the top division for men's IIHF tournaments. The 2013 IIHF World Championship would take place in Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland. France would not do so well this tournament coming in 13th with a record of 2-0-1-4 (W-OTW-OTL-L). Sweden would end up winning the tournament with Switzerland taking silver and the US taking bronze.
This jersey was game worn during the 2013 IIHF World Championship. Being in the top division, the jersey would be made of Nike's Swift material which was very lightweight, form fitting, and included a tie down fight strap. The Nike swoosh logo would be sewn in the top right shoulder and the IIHF patch would be sewn on the back bottom hem. The tagging includes the IIHF Authentic Collection tag as well as a screen printed numbered size and "Made in Canada" on the inside neck. The inside bottom hem includes the heat pressed Nike bar-code.
The main crest would be the Gallic rooster, the national symbol of France, which is sewn on. The Fédération Française de Hockey sur Glace (French Ice Hockey Federation) logo would be sublimated on the top left shoulder. The numbers are single twill sewn onto the jersey and the name is heat pressed onto the nameplate which is sewn to the jersey. This jersey was worn during the preliminary round games against Austria winning 3-1, Finland losing 1-3, USA losing 2-4, Latvia losing 1-3, and Germany losing 2-3. This jersey style would be worn for IIHF tournaments from 2009-2013 and be sponsored by Zepter from 2009-2011 and 2013.
