Denmark has done pretty well in terms of the hockey world for being a smaller country. They joined the IIHF on April 27, 1946 and currently rank #11 for men's in the world, #11 for women's in the world, and reside in the top division for men's IIHF tournaments. The 2011 IIHF World Championship would take place in Slovakia in the cities of Bratislava and Košice. Denmark would not do so well this tournament coming in 11th with a record of 0-1-0-4 (W-OTW-OTL-L). Finland would end up winning the tournament with Sweden taking silver and Czech Republic taking bronze.
This jersey was game worn during the 2011 IIHF World Championship. Being in the top division, the jersey would be made of Nike's Swift material which was very lightweight, form fitting, and included a tie down fight strap. The Nike swoosh logo would be sewn in the top right shoulder and the IIHF patch would be sewn on the back bottom hem. The tagging includes the IIHF Authentic Collection tag as well as a screen printed numbered size and "Made in Canada" on the inside neck. The inside bottom hem includes the heat pressed Nike bar-code.
The main crest would be one of the lions passant from Denmark's royal coat of arms and "DANMARK" below it which are both embroidered on. The Danmarks Ishockey Union (Danish Ice Hockey Union) logo would be sublimated on the top left shoulder and another lions passant would be sublimated on the back bottom section. The numbers are single twill sewn onto the jersey and the name is heat pressed onto the nameplate which is sewn to the jersey. This jersey style would be worn against Finalnd losing 1-5, Czech Republic losing 0-6, Russia losing 3-4, and Slovakia losing 1-4. This jersey style would be worn for IIHF tournaments from 2009-2013 and be sponsored by Dong Energy from 2011-2013.
