Jersey History |
Oh boy I love finding jerseys from up and coming hockey nations. Argentina first joined the IIHF on May 31, 1998 and are only an Associate Member at this point. They have been unable to compete in any IIHF World Championships as they do not have a professional league. Besides having a regulation sized operational indoor rink, nations must also have enough players, a professional league, and a development program to be a full member. Argentina is currently trying to build up their programs and making great progress in doing so. In the meantime they've played in the Pan American Tournaments, Amerigol LATAM Cups, and IIHF Development Cups. This jersey is based from the 2022 Amerigol LATAM Cup where the tournament would take place in Miami, Florida. Argentina would do well this tournament coming in 2nd winning silver with a record of 3-0-0-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L). Puerto Rico would win this tournament and there would not be a game for third.
This jersey was team issued during the 2022 Amerigol LATAM Cup. Being in the lower divisions/not playing in a World Championship, the jersey would be made of Tackla's Airknit material which was very soft, form fitting, and includes a tie down fight strap as is mandated for men's national teams in 2019. The IIHF logo would be sublimated on the front neck area and the IIHF main logo would be sublimated on the back bottom hem. The tagging includes the IIHF Authentic Collection tag as well as Tackla's retail tag and size in letter form.
The main crest would be the Sun of May, Argentina's national symbol, and "ARGENTINA" below it which are both sublimated on. The shoulders include the Asociación Argentina de Hockey sobre Hielo y En Línea (Argentine Association of Ice and In-Line Hockey) logo sublimated on. The numbers are sublimated onto the jersey and Argentina does put names on their jerseys, but since this is team issued there is no name currently. We'll see if I can find a way to do so. This jersey style would be worn for IIHF tournaments from 2014-present. Lower divisions typically did not have sponsors on the jerseys.

Well Matias Pizzini did not wear this jersey but he did have this number so I'll focus on him. Pizzini was born in Argentina and outside of playing for the national team, has not really played anywhere else. He has played in the 2022 Amerigol LATAM Cup and Spring Classic tournaments for Argentina. During the Amerigol LATAM Cup, Pizzini would play 6 games while scoring 0 goals, 0 assists, and collect 0 PIMs.
