Jersey History |
Love that these smaller countries are investing in hockey! Andorra joined the IIHF on May 4, 1995 and currently are an Associate Member. They're actively building their professional league and developing their players so I hope to see them in them in the World Championships soon. Otherwise they mostly participate in the IIHF Development Cups along with other Associate Members. This jersey was actually not worn in any major tournament, but was used for the Andorran Ice Hockey League. The league had a rough start though so Andorra is now participating in the Iberian Ice Hockey League.
This jersey was game worn during the 2021-22 Andorran Ice Hockey League season. Still building their programs, the jersey would not be made from Tackla or Nike, but would be made by Owayo. These jerseys would still be form fitting, light-weight, and soft similar to the Tackla jerseys.
The main crest would be the Andorra Hoquei Gel (Andorra Ice Hockey) logo which is sublimated on. The neck lining would include the Andorran flag which is sublimated on. The name and numbers are also sublimated onto the jersey with sponsors sublimated on to both shoulders and the back bottom hem. This jersey style would be worn for the 2021-22 season and various exhibition games.

Well I actually got to meet Eric Farré in person! He was kind enough to grab a beer with me in Barcelona while in the middle of exam season. Born in Andorra, Farré grew up playing hockey in Andorra and Spain for Puigcerdà. Working through an injury, he hopes to get back playing in the Iberian Ice Hockey League soon. He would go on to represent Andorra in the IIHF Development Cup in 2022 and 2025.
